A Letter From Mayor Cory Booker
Two years ago, we were freshmen with a difficult and unknown road before us. I challenged you and I challenged myself to commit to achieving excellence. I commend you for rising to the challenge. The Newark Public Schools, the Prudential Foundation, and I are pleased to continue to support your efforts.
We are at the midpoint. This year is critical to solidify achievement and push ourselves to improve. I spent time reflecting on my achievements and developed a plan to ensure continued success. Platinum scholars don’t lose ground. For those of you who achieved gold and bronze status, keep up the good work and talk to your teachers about how to improve. Decide what you want at the end of your senior year and plan the steps to get there.
I believe that you can achieve at the highest levels. Pledge to yourself to be successful. You have my full support. Continue to be ambassadors to other juniors and students and set the example for them. You are setting the academic standard for our City. I am proud of what you have done and will continue to do.
